Villa Girone                   

Villa Il Girone is a private residence located in the prestigious hills surrounding Florence just 6km south from the city centre. There is a highly recommended restaurant and a few shops in the small village of Girone, just 1.5km. Villa Girone was built in the 1800’s and has been owned by the Picchi family for the last century. Their son and daughter still live in the villa and provide their guests with assistance, if required.

Electric gates open up to a long sweeping drive-way leading up to the villa. There are extensive gardens laid to lawn, dotted with olive trees and terracotta tubs of flowers. Guests to Villa Girone have their own private, independent entrance to the ground floor accommodation reached under a beautiful vine covered pergola.

An elegant swimming pool, resembling a small lake, was built especially for the present owners. The pool is shared between the Picchi family and guests to the villa and is flood lit at night. In our opinion, there are certain areas of the swimming pool unsuitable for young children. All children must be supervised in and around the pool at all times.

Interior: extremely spacious (200 sqm), ground floor accommodation furnished with antique furniture to excellent standards. Living room with upholstered sofas and chairs. Fully fitted and well equipped kitchen with open-fire, dishwasher, and ‘fridge/freezer. There is also a washing machine for guest’s use. Breakfast bar and further dining area. Double bedroom and twin bedroom. An extra bed is available on request at 150.000 lira per week (approx. £50). Small bathroom with shower.

Exterior: Large vine covered pergola furnished with wrought iron tables and chairs for private use of guests. Built in barbecue. Landscaped gardens with gate to swimming pool area. There are various furnished areas for sunbathing. Private parking.

Further information: An extra bed will be provided on request at approx. £50 per week. Central heating may be provided at approx. £50 per week. A breakage’s deposit is required on arrival (approx. £180) which may be paid in travellers/UK cheque. Please arrive between 4 and 7pm. If this is not possible, kindly let us know and we will arrange a different time.
